Daily Meditation for January 22

Good Morning!  Today is January 22 and here is today's meditation.

One cannot have wisdom without living life.

-Dorothy McCall

Living life means responding, wholly, to our joys and our pitfalls.  It means not avoiding the experiences or activities that we fear we can't handle.  Only through our survival of them do we come to know who we really are; we come to understand the strength available to us at every moment.  And that is wisdom.

When we approach life tentatively, we reap only a portion of its gifts.  It's like watching a movie in black and white that's supposed to be in Technicolor.  Our lives are in color, but we must have courage to let the colors emerge, to feel them, absorb them, be changed by them.  Within our depths, we find our true selves.  The complexities of life teach us wisdom.  And becoming wise eases the many pitfalls in our path.

Living life is much more than just being alive.  I can choose to jump in with both feet.  Wisdom awaits me in the depths.

Blunt:  Living life also means facing our fears; whatever they may be.

Daily Meditation for January 7

Good Morning!  It is a crisp and frigid -29 degrees Fahrenheit in my neck of the woods this bright, sunny morning and here is our day's meditation.

January 7
The greatest gift we can give one another is rapt attention to one another's existence.

-Sue Atchley Ebaugh

We all want to matter to others.  Very often in the past-- and sometimes in the present--our behavior has screamed for the attention we seek from others.  Perhaps, instead of trying to get attention, we ought to give it.  The program tells us we have to give it away in order to keep it.  Wisdom of the ages also dictates that in life there are no accidents.  Those people close to us and those just passing through our lives have reason to be there.  Giving attention to another's humanity is our calling.

I will fully attend to another person I have occasion to be with today.  She will matter to me,and my attention will matter to her.

Blunt:  While providing attention to another person we are also providing love.  What we provide to others in turn is provided to us.
